Basic Instruction Program

The BIP Courses are designed to allow students from across various programs in the university participate in courses that are inspired to allow students to be physically active, learn a new sport, and engage with students and instructors from diverse backgrounds.

BIP course are most often single credit (1 credit) courses. A student may earn a maximum of 8 credits in all BIP enrollments for these courses. The only way to repeat a course is if the course is in a different context. Students are limited to a combined total of 8 credits in KIN 101-109 and KIN 111-118.

Kinesiology Attendance Policy for BIP Courses

All BIP courses are participation-based courses and therefore we have a Departmental Attendance Policy for KIN 101-118 courses:

A student must meet the minimum attendance requirement to pass these courses. Students may only miss a maximum of 4 course hours for the entire semester and this includes any time lost for late adds into the course, sickness, or any other reason. For KIN 101-109, failure to meet these requirements will result in a No Grade (NG) for the course. For KIN 111 – 118, failure to meet these requirements will result in a 0.0.

BIP Course Offerings

We strive to offer a variety of BIP courses so that all students can find an activity they enjoy. Each course has varying equipment requirements, and may have additional fees associated with them.
