Chrono-Exercise is Medicine

Recruiting females age 55-80 with high blood pressure

Purpose: Examine the effects of exercise training on blood pressure & vascular health
Testing: 48 exercise training sessions and up to 11 study visits
Location: Testing done at MSU
Compensation: Up to $880

Sauna Study

Recruiting Black/African-American individuals, age 30-80 with high blood pressure

Purpose: To examine the effects of 4 weeks of sauna therapy on blood pressure and blood vessel health. Sauna therapy involves sitting in a room where the temperature is increased using stones.

Testing:

  • 3 to 5 study visits involving questionnaires and blood pressure and blood vessel health assessments
  • 16 sauna sessions (4 x 30 min sessions per week for 4 weeks)
  • At home blood pressure measurements

Location: IM Sports Circle, Michigan State University
Compensation: Up to $110 in cash and $480 in Amazon gift cards

Exercise and Blood Pressure Responses in Females

The ECHO Laboratory is seeking females ages 18-35 who either have a natural menstrual cycle or are taking oral contraceptive pills.

Purpose: Examine how menstrual and pill cycles affect the blood pressure responses to exercise testing.

Testing:

  • 1, 20 minute in-person or virtual visit
  • 3, 60 minute in-person visits involving blood pressure measurements at rest and during treadmill exercise
  • At-home measurements & cycle diary
  • Compensation for in-person visits will be provided
