Presenter: Dr. Kausalai (Kay) Wijekumar, Houston Endowment Chair and Chancellor EDGES Fellow, Texas A&M University

Wijekumar will present Knowledge Acquisition and Transformation (KAT), an approach to teaching comprehension which she evaluated in over 70 classrooms across the country and numerous schools have achieved 100% pass rates (including multilingual learners and students with disabilities) on high stakes state assessments by implementing the framework.

The KAT framework will be highly effective for elementary teachers, middle school content area teachers, literacy coaches, administrators, school psychologists and other support specialists, curriculum developers, professional learning providers, and organizations supporting systems to enable evidence-based instruction.
