As the first speaker of six for the 25-26 academic year, the Education Policy Speaker Series (EPSS) welcomes Francis Alvin Pearman from Stanford University. He will be presenting his seminar titled School Closures and District Finance: Evidence from National Data in Erickson Hall Room 252 on Friday, October 3rd from 10:30am-12:00pm. EPSS hosts and amplifies some of the leading voices in education research and policy to share their research and speak about the issues that are top-of-mind in education policy today.
Speaker:
Francis A. Pearman is an Assistant Professor of Education in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University and a member at the Maternal & Child Health Research Institute. His research focuses on how poverty and inequality shape the life chances of children, especially in rapidly changing cities. His interests include early childhood, educational policy, poverty and inequality, race and ethnicity, research methods, and sociology. His award-winning research has been published in a variety of leading journals, including American Educational Research Journal, Review of Educational Research, and Sociology of Education, and has been featured in a number of media outlets, including The Economist and The Atlantic. Pearman holds a Ph.D. and M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. from the University of Virginia.
