Program Dates: July 5, 2026 - July 10, 2026
This is your invitation to apply to one of two highly selective, residential, pre-college programs for current 11th graders as of September 2025. These programs are committed to cultivating engaged learners who plan to enter the fields of Education and Kinesiology by recruiting students from partnering districts in Lansing, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Muskegon, and the surrounding communities.
Both residential programs are hosted on the campus of Michigan State University and are intended to increase college preparation and readiness, as well as nurture an interest in careers in Education, particularly Urban Education, and Kinesiology.
These programs include:
- An up-close glimpse into college life on the campus of Michigan State University.
- Preparation for success in college with classes including a college prep course, pre-college writing, into Urban Education or an intro to Kinesiology
- Exploration of prospective careers in Education or Kinesiology
- Learning about applying for college scholarships, financial aid and FAFSA.
- Fun games and activities
Criteria for Application
- Must be a current 11th grade student
- Must be interested in a career in Education or Kinesiology
- Demonstration of academic potential
- Must be willing to participate in an online interview
Application Requirements
To complete this application, you will need:
- A copy of your January 2026 high school transcript
- A student email address
- A parent email address (must be DIFFERENT from student email)
- The email address and telephone of a school counselor or administrator willing to provide a recommendation
- Complete a 500-word essay prompt
