Nine undergraduates from the College of Education received first-place awards at the 2015 University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) at MSU on April 10. The annual springtime event is held at the MSU Union as an opportunity for students across the university to showcase scholarship and creativity.
Students presented original work in a variety of categories—from agriculture and animal science to psychology—in oral and poster presentations.
The college would like to congratulate the first-place award recipients, chosen from 750 undergraduate participants:
- Montana Pruett (Kinesiology), Sara Brady (Kinesiology) and Alex Smith (Kinesiology) – for their oral presentation on “Online Behavioral Tracking Among Pregnant Women”
- Emma Bizzigotti (Kinesiology) for her poster presentation with co-researcher Brittany Ladson (Human Biology) on “It’s Never Too Late to Learn: Differences in Motor Skill Learning Between Children and Adults”
- Andrew Cusmano (Kinesiology) and Danielle Puckett (Kinesiology), along with co-researcher Emily Matthews (Chemistry), for their poster presentation on “Finding An Optimal Practice Sequence for Learning a Novel Motor Task”
- Aiya Jweihan (minor: Health Promotion) and co-researcher Glen Gagnon (Psychology) for their poster presentation on “Helping Graduates Succeed: A Study of Proximal and Distal Factors in Job Attainment”
- Marianne Caddy (minor: Health Promotion) and Hadley Brandenburg (minor: Health Promotion) for their poster presentation on “Older Adults and Technology”
More than 60 College of Education students participated in this year’s event. Participating students also received mentorship from college faculty within their respective departments.
