Dr. Karin Pfeiffer, Ph.D., FACSM, FNAK

Karin Pfeiffer

  • Position at MSU: Red Cedar Distinguished Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Director of the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports
  • Prior Education: Doctoral degree at MSU in 2001
  • Research Interests: Measurement of physical activity and interventions to increase physical activity
  • Experience: Has been studying physical activity and health-related fitness in children and youth for the past 24 years, has over 260 publications in peer-reviewed journals, has procured external grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and various foundations, serves on the Leadership Board of the National Youth Sports Health and Safety Institute, is a Past-President of the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine and the Midwest regional chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), was a Trustee of national ACSM, elected to the Board of Directors of the International Society for the Measurement of Physical Behaviour, appointed as Chair of the Sport Sector of the National Physical Activity Plan
