Dr. Currie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM), a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP; Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology), and the Director of the Exercise & Cardiovascular Health Outcomes Lab. She received her Ph.D. from McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada) where she examined the effects of low-volume, high-intensity interval exercise training on cardiovascular health in individuals with coronary artery disease. Following this, Dr. Currie completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Universities of British Columbia and Toronto and McMaster University where she continued to examine cardiovascular health outcomes in a variety of populations including individuals with spinal cord injuries, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and children. Dr. Currie is trained in exercise testing and a number of cardiovascular assessments including echocardiography, flow-mediated dilation, arterial stiffness and blood pressure measurements. Her research focuses on the acute and chronic cardiovascular responses to exercise to understand individual responses to exercise and exercise training.
