Navigating & Negotiating Your First Academic Position
May 17, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Navigating the job market for academic positions is a complex process, from searching for positions to negotiating job offers. This session will provide insight into the multi-step process of applying for different academic positions (e.g., post-doc, R1, R2) and offer a how-to guide for navigating each step. Students will learn about preparing application materials, effectively reading job calls, submitting application materials, preparing for job interviews, and negotiating job offers. Graduate Research Fellowship Program Workshop Series
The MSU AGEP Program is conducting a workshop series that will present NSF GRFP program information and provide structured practice to create competitive GRFP application. Students will participate in a 5-part series that will include an overview of the GRFP and application process, first-hand advice from GRFP reviewers and recent awardees, and two interactive sessions to review and revise their application documents. Office of Research & Innovation Research Enhancement Award
Did you know funds are available to support activities that enhance graduate student research projects? These funds are available to support research activities including workshop participation (both in-person or virtual), data collection, short courses, extramural laboratory rotations, or the cost of disseminating the results of research and creative activities. Enhancement awards are intended to match/supplement funds provided by advisors, units and colleges and will range from $500 to $1,000. Learn more via the Graduate School
Spring 2023 ETD Deadline Extension
The Graduate School has extended Electronic Theses and Dissertation deadlines for Spring 2023. The new deadlines are as follows:
- ETD Submission Deadline: Wednesday, May 17 at 5 p.m.
- ETD Final Deadline: Wednesday, May 31 at 5 p.m.

College of Education Student Food Pantry
A small food pantry with grab-and-go food items is now located in Erickson Hall and is open to all CED students who may be in need. (When entering the main entrance of Erickson Hall, walk past the Student Affairs Office and turn left down the hallway as you approach 133F. The cupboard is located shortly down the hallway on your left.) This initiative is made possible by MSU donors who have contributed to the Student Emergency Fund. MSU CAPS Services
