Beal Botanical Garden Tour: iNaturalist Training
June 13, 12:10 to 1 p.m.
Visit the Beal Botanical Garden for an introduction to digital identification tools such as iNaturalist. The tour will also cover methods of plant identification, the Flora of Michigan, how to use dichotomous keys and more. Learn more via MSU Libraries
Open Craft: Textile Upcycle
June 14 and 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore ways to repurpose unwanted clothing and scrap fabric at MSU Surplus. The different types of projects include apparel, non-apparel, sewing methods and no-sew methods. It is encouraged for attendees to bring a piece of clothing to rework, but there will also be textiles available for free use. Learn more via MSU Recycling
MSU Juneteenth Commemorative Celebration
June 14, 5 to 8:30 p.m. Juneteenth, short for June nineteenth, is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. The theme of this year’s MSU commemoration is Acknowledging the Journey: Freedom, Resilience, Empowerment and Liberation. The commemoration features the multi-faceted musician and host Rodney Page, gospel music by Gregory D and Company, jazz music by the MSU College of Music, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Phoenix Miranda and more. DEADLINE CORRECTION: Fall 2024 TA Tuition Pool Application Opens
Attention: Graduate Teaching Assistants
The Graduate Employees Union and Michigan State University agreed to add 500 additional tuition credits to the tuition waiver benefit for teaching assistants. This additional benefit will be in place for May 2024 to May 2028. The Fall tuition pool is available to students appointed as teaching assistants in Fall 2024. Call for Research Participants: Zing Program Study
School Psychology doctoral student Nancy J. Hernandez is studying the potential benefits of physical activity on cognitive and behavioral skills, specifically for Latino children (ages 7-11). As part of her research, Nancy is seeking Latinx parents and children to participate in a 12-week physical activity program. Children can participate in the $500-value program for FREE (twice daily for 10 to 15 minutes each time) and parents can earn up to a $50 Amazon gift card for completing outcome measures.
