Academic Integrity and Teaching Responsibility in the College Classroom
Jan. 3, 3 to 4:30 p.m. Dr. Shannon Lynn Burton (MSU Ombudsperson) will present key strategies in discussing the importance of academic integrity, as well as in preventing misconduct, both in its more traditional forms, as well as in the digital space. Additionally, university policies and procedures in responding to misconduct will be explored to assist you in navigating these conversations. VIRTUAL EVENT: Learn more via the Graduate School

Opportunities

Online Active Violence Incident Training

Need for Students on NIH Research Study
An MSU research team is in immediate need of students to assist with a large-scale NIH-funded study. The Guys/Girls Opt for Activities for Life (GOAL) project promotes healthy eating and physical activity to middle-school-age children. All positions are paid (unless you are looking for an internship) depending on position and level of experience. See below for the positions we have available:

  • Physical Activity and Nutrition Intervention Coach (1-2 days/week for 13 weeks): Do you have availability for the entire time between 12 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays? Intervention Coaches ‘coach’ at the middle schools for the project’s after-school program.
  • Physical Activity and Nutrition Intervention Coach Backup (Monday-Thursday for 13 weeks): Do you have availability for the entire time between 12 to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday? Intervention Coach Backups ‘coach’ at middle schools for the project’s after-school program if/when the Coaches are unable to make their shift.

Schools are within a two-hour radius and setup/breakdown times are included (transportation is also provided), so availability during the entire time frames listed above is required. Sheldon Donald (donal121@msu.edu) is the Intervention Coordinator and would love to chat with you if you are available. Please send him an email that you are available during one of these time blocks and he will schedule a Zoom meeting.

Science Policy & Advocacy for Research Competition (SPARC)
Graduate students in STEM programs are invited to apply to the 10-week Science Policy Advocacy for Research Competition (SPARC) series that will train students on science policy communication. Training culminates in an advocacy competition and the three top winners will have the opportunity to pitch to policymakers on Capitol Hill. Learn more and apply via Universities Research Association
