Personal Finance for PhDs: Estimated Tax Workshop 
Attention: Doctoral

This workshop teaches doctoral students how to manage their taxable income, save for tax payments and navigate IRS requirements, addressing common scenarios they may encounter. Learn more via the Graduate School

Wix Portfolio Workshop

 Join WIX representatives as they walk you through portfolio basics, including getting started, selecting pieces, creating informative and engaging captions and other considerations. Ten Best Kept Secrets in Statistics – RCR Credit 
Oct. 12, 12 to 1 p.m.
 A list of widely applicable statistical techniques will be provided, including Holm adjustment, normal scores test, unconditional test and more. Arguments will be presented for the application of these compared to other commonly used analysis tools. LGBTQIA2S+ Research in Higher Education Symposium 
Oct. 14, 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
 The Mildred B. Erickson Distinguished Chair in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education at Michigan State University is hosting a symposium on LGBTQIA2S+ issues in higher education, featuring a wide range of topics, with both in-person and online options available with free registration and meals for in-person attendees. “Welcome to My Classroom” Series: Dr. Valerie Hedges 
Oct.16, 2 to 3 p.m.
 Join the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation to explore innovative teaching methods from MSU educators in a virtual showcase. The “Welcome to My Classroom” series features educators like Dr. Valerie Hedges, who will share insights and practices to enrich the learning experience, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement. EAD 315 Call for Instructors
Are you a graduate student (in your second year or later) who wants to gain experience with teaching? Consider teaching a course on Student Leadership for undergraduate students at MSU. This is a teaching apprenticeship that offers cohort-style and mentored in-person and/or online teaching experience to first-time and experienced instructors. Apply by: Oct. 16. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Funded Study – Assistance Needed 
Paid positions are currently being offered to undergraduate or graduate students to assist with an NIH-funded study called the Guys/Girls Opt for Activities for Life (GOAL) project, which focuses on promoting healthy eating and physical activity for middle school children. For inquiries about either position, please contact Aisha Hilliard. 

  • Physical Activity and Nutrition Intervention Coaches (1-2 days/week for 13 weeks): Seeking availability for the entire time between 12 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays for 13 weeks
  • Physical Activity and Nutrition Intervention Managers (Monday to Thursday for 13 weeks): Seeking a commitment on Tuesday and/or Thursday between 12 to 7 p.m. for 13 weeks  

MSU Science Festival: Call For Presenters
Submit a proposal (as MSU faculty, academic staff, grad students, or undergraduate students) to participate in the MSU Science Festival (April 1-30, 2024). Presentation formats include: hand-on activities, demonstrations, performances, behind-the-scene tours and open houses, resources for self-guided experiences, and hosted book talks/game nights/poetry readings/etc. Submissions due: Nov 4. LGBTQ+ Issues in Education 101: Language, Identity, and Inclusion 
It’s crucial to engage in conversations about LGBTQIA2S+ community issues due to the current socio-political context and historical gaps in addressing their needs within the state, university and college. This recorded session from the College of Education presents an opportunity to focus on understanding and supporting this community’s significance in our country and college, providing Dr. Justin A. Gutzwa an opportunity to speak on learning and engagement opportunities throughout the academic year. 

Volunteer Opportunity: Lansing Technical High School CTE Project 
Lansing Technical High School offers a volunteer opportunity for College of Education graduate students to assist in developing a new culinary arts Career & Technical Education program, providing valuable learning and consulting experience, with a potential start date in Spring or Fall 2024; contact Adam Roy by Oct. 23 for details.
