DEI Conversations in Sport
Oct. 30, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Hosted by the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports (ISYS), the DEI Conversations in Sport conference focuses on addressing and preventing incidents of hate in sports by providing attendees with terminology, preventative strategies, and a crisis response plan for coaches and administrators. Facilitators include:
- Dr. Ashley Baker is the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at MSU Federal Credit Union. Formerly, she served as Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for MSU Athletics.
- Dr. Andrew MacIntosh is Chief Program Officer at RISE, where he helps to educate and empower the sports community into programs for varying audiences and contexts.

Office of Research & Innovation AI Networking Event
In efforts to advance research related to artificial intelligence and to foster collaboration across campus, the Office of Research and Innovation is hosting an AI networking event with a poster session and reception in the MSU Union Ballroom on Nov. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m., with the goal of identifying those who perform research with AI, as well as those who are interested in learning more about AI and how to apply it in their research. In addition to networking, the poster session will present varied approaches MSU researchers are taking with AI. Space will be provided throughout the ballroom and in the adjacent MOSAIC Center to provide opportunities for collaboration, inquiry and more. This event is open to MSU faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and anyone in the MSU community who uses AI, or would like to learn more about AI. Register by Nov. 3. Spring 2024 Course: Brown at 70: Historical and Contemporary Implications of U.S. Desegregation Policy
Introducing a new course that comprises three parts: the conditions and actions that lead to the Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka decision, the contested era of implementation and massive resistance that followed, and the legacy of Brown in schools today. Students will work on public workshops/presentations to mark the 70th anniversary in 2024 and complete a traditional final paper or project.
