Creating Cultures of Wellbeing in Your Class
Feb. 7, 4 to 5 p.m. Join Dr. Megumi Moore (Director of Graduate Student Life and Wellness) for an interactive discussion on wellbeing and your classroom culture. Learn more about evidence behind wellness as a foundation for student success, reflect on your supports and barriers to building humanizing spaces, and identify simple actions you can take in your everyday practice. WOCI Surviving Comprehensive Exams Workshop

Engaging in the State Legislative Session
Feb. 9, 1 to 2:30 p.m. The Michigan chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network is sponsoring a training workshop on state legislative sessions. The workshop provides critical knowledge that can be used to foster evidence-based legislation. Learn more via University Outreach & Engagement
Navigating the Master’s Workshop

MSU Commons Introduction
Feb. 10, 10 to 11:30 a.m. MSU Commons is an open access platform for connecting with other scholars, sharing your work and developing your online presence. CHAE Speaker’s Series: International Student Labor in North America
Feb. 10, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Scholars in the field of international higher education will discuss issues related to international student labor in the U.S. and Canada. Panelists will discuss policies related to treatment, right, limitations of international student labor, and their contributions to the host and home country. OISS Academic Support Unit Resource Fair & Coffee Hour
Feb. 10, 4 to 6 p.m. The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is hosting an Academic Support Unit Resource Fair at our signature event, Coffee Hour, in the Cross Roads Food Court in the International Center. Coffee hour usually draws around 50 students, scholars, and community members from a variety of countries, cultures, and academic programs. We provide this space to share information and provide an opportunity to relax and connect. This resource fair will inform students about and get them connected to some of the many different academic support units on campus.
Love is a Monster: An Anti-Valentine’s Day Party
Feb. 10, 7 to 10 p.m. Destroy all notions of this corporatized holiday with a party planned for MSU students, by MSU students. We’ll have all the stuff to make custom cards and art that expresses just how you’re feeling. Learn more via Broad Art Museum
Sankofa Project 2023: Civil Rights, Education, and Social Justice Then and Now
Feb. 11, 12 p.m. Session I in the Sankofa Project series will feature Ambassador Andrew Young, Distinguished Professor Gary Orfield from the University of California, Los Angeles, MSU Distinguished Professor Bill Schmidt and MSU Dean and Professor Emeritum Robert L. This conference helps MSU educators share approaches, tools, and techniques that support teaching and learning. Educators are invited to submit presentation proposals on select teaching and learning topics across a wide array of formats, including synchronous digital sessions. Submissions due: Feb. 17. 14-Day Writing Challenge
Join the Spring 14-Day Writing Challenge from the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity. The challenge is simple: write for at least 30 minutes every day — Monday through Friday — for two weeks. NCFDD is free to join. Register by Feb. 15. Graduate Teaching Assistant Preparation: Save The Date
Attention: Graduate Teaching Assistants
The 2023-24 GTA Preparation Program (Aug. 15, 16, 23) has workshops and sessions for graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) in any role (new and returning). Grad students who will be teaching either in the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters should mark their calendars for all or any of the three days. Registration begins April 15.
