College of Education Student Writing Groups
We are pleased to announce that writing groups for the College of Education are returning for spring semester! If you are interested in joining a writing group this semester, please complete this short survey by Jan. 27. Based on your answers and preferences, you will be paired up with three to five individuals who have similar goals. Pairings will be announced the afternoon of Jan. 29. Additionally, there will be a spring kickoff event on Feb. 3 at 12:30 p.m. (EH 252) with free Toarmina’s pizza and special guest speakers Dr. Joseph Krajcik and Doctoral Candidate Meredith Wekesser. Dissertation Support Group
Attention: Doctoral
This six-week group provides doctoral students with a supportive, structured environment that helps mitigate the sense of isolation and frustration that often accompanies the dissertation process. A weekly discussion topic will allow participants to share experiences and resources that address some of the most common barriers to progress. Register by: Jan. 27. Just Education Policy Summer 2023
Attention: Doctoral
The goal of the Just Education Policy scholars program is to inspire and engage the next generation of racial justice-focused education policy scholars. The summer 2023 JEP scholars program will be held virtually (via Zoom) on June 6-8. It will include a mix of guided discussions about important concepts for those seeking to work in educational equity and justice, as well as community-building and direct mentoring sessions. Wayne State University Graduate Research Symposium
WSU is looking for scholars to share their research at the virtual 2023 Graduate Research Symposium, March 6-8. The symposium is a fully virtual event that brings together 1,500 attendees from 30 countries to learn about the latest graduate student and postdoctoral research. Apply by: Jan. 27. CIES Preview/Practice Session
In advance of next month’s Comparative & International Education Society conference, OISE is offering practice/preview sessions. Those presenting at CIES are invited to sign up for one of the three practice session times in early February via Google Docs. Those not presenting are welcome to attend the presentations and share questions.
SACI Spring Volunteer Training
The MSU Center for Survivors is now recruiting volunteers for its Spring 2023 Training Class. The Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention (SACI) Team provides essential support, advocacy and outreach services to the MSU campus and greater Lansing community. Training will be held in person. Call for Abstracts: 2023 COGS Graduate Academic Conference
The 15th Annual Graduate Academic Conference will take place on Feb. 18, 2023, at the MSU Union. The Council of Graduate Students is now accepting abstracts for poster and oral presentations and applicants to participate in the famous Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition! Making the Most of a Conference

Education Policy Speaker Series: Dr. Katherine Michelmore
Jan. 27, 10:30 a.m. “What’s the Power of Certainty? Experimental Evidence on the Effective Design of Free Tuition Policies.” Dr. Katherine Michelmore is an associate professor of public policy at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R.
