2026 ACE Teaching Table Talk: Mapping the Self

 This pilot initiative highlights the role of arts-based reflection in fostering grounding practices, deepening self-awareness and helping future teachers make meaning of their experiences within today’s political landscape. The presentation explores a creative, reflective journaling practice for TE 101–TE 102 students as they navigate their development as future educators. Through drawing, collage, poetry and writing, students will document their evolving identities, beliefs, values and experiences, creating a tangible record of their teacher preparation journey.

About the talk: Teaching Table Talks is a brown bag series hosted by the Office of Access and Community Engagement where faculty and graduate students will engage in interactive workshops focused on innovative pedagogical approaches, classroom management strategies, and emerging topics in teaching and educational research. Each session offers a space for collaborative learning, critical dialogue, and practical application across diverse educational settings
