Experiences

A unique combination of theory and practice guides the program. There are opportunities throughout the three years to engage with leaders across multiple districts and fields that support PK-12 education.

Internship

A core element of the Ed.D.-DEL program is a year-long internship program, featured in EAD 821 (Internship in Educational Administration II).

In this experience, you will partake in a supervised internship in an educational and/or community organization focused on school-community leadership issues. The experience will provide graduates with K-12 Administrative Certification and/or Central Office Endorsement.

The internship is an optional experience.

Collaborative Learning

In your first year, you will take courses alongside students in our K-12 Educational Administration Ph.D. program to engage in learning experiences together.

Our program offers in Cross-Cohort Days. This immersive, four-day on-campus learning experience is an opportunity for current cohorts (years 1-3) to gather to learn from and with one another — and with alums. Students in their third and final year conduct poster presentations, while students in years one and two can learn about research opportunities and network.

Student Perspectives

One of our alums had this to say about the Ed.D.-DEL program overall:

Participation in MSU’s collaborative cohort model created for me a sustaining network of equity focused leaders across the state of Michigan.
