
Richard (Dick) Robertson is the consummate professional. For more than 30 years in higher education, Dr. Robertson has distinguished himself for his enduring commitment to students and their success, institutional advancement, and community colleges and the special role they play in higher education. He is vice president of student service at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California.
Dr. Robertson began his career in 1971 as the student activities director at Butler County Community College in Pennsylvania. He would go on to serve as dean of students and dean of instruction. In 1987, he was appointed vice president at MiraCosta College. In 1989, he served as acting president of the college. As vice president, he directs a comprehensive student services program that includes admission, counseling, financial aid, minority recruitment, intercollegiate athletics, health services, student activities and government, and a host of other activities. Deeply committed to diversity and Equity Task Force. Dr. Robertson has also distinguished himself for his professional service. He is currently president of the California Community College Student Service Administrators Association, and has served on its executive board since 1995. He also served as vice chair of the Commission on Education Policy for the Community College League of California.
A graduate of East Lansing High School, Dr. Robertson received his bachelor’s degree from Wooster College in 1965. He received his M.A. (1967) in college student personnel and PhD (1981) in administration and higher education form Michigan State University.
