Starting Spring 2009, MSU’s College of Education has been pleased to offer its time-honored, high-quality Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum degree program in an entirely online format.

While we have offered a growing variety of online and hybrid courses for some time students may now chose to apply to our new entirely online program at a special tuition rate lower than out-of-state/in-residence. Ideal for students wishing to complete a Master’s Degree at Michigan State University, but who are unable to easily commute to MSU’s campus in East Lansing.

Doing the Online MATC is also an economical alternative to paying out-of-state-tuition for those students who wish to pursue a quality, MSU graduate degree in teaching and curriculum, but are otherwise unable to relocate to East Lansing for a two-year program. Please see our Costs and Financial Aid section for more information.

What’s the difference between the “Online MATC” and the ‘regular’ program? Essentially, only the tuition/fee schedule and method of course delivery. Students in our regular program take many of the same online courses as in the exclusively online program, but only recently have non-Michigan residents been able to benefit from a tuition rate approximately 40% less than out-of-state rates. Students in the “online” or “regular” MATC programs receive identical diplomas and transcripts and have equal access to MSU’s acclaimed College of Education Teacher Education faculty.
