June 18-19, 2020

Covering All the Bases: Coaching the Whole Athlete

The theme of this year’s Summer Coaches’ School focuses on a holistic approach to coaching youth athletes. Our expert presenters will share strategies for working effectively in today’s world as a sport coach. Presentation topics will address a variety of topics such as nutrition, injury, skill instruction, physical training, emotional development, and life skill development. Presentations will include a mix of engaging lectures, workshop activities, and group discussions.

Located at Brody Center on MSU’s Campus

The coaches’ school will be held at the Brody Center, easily accessible from the Kellogg Center parking ramp on MSU’s campus. Lunch will be included both days. The school is hosted and organized by the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports, in conjunction with the MSU Department of Kinesiology and its Sport Coaching and Leadership graduate programs.

MHSAA Coach Advancement Program

The 2019 Summer Coaches’ School serves as levels 7-8 of the MHSAA Coach Advancement Program and provides SCHECH credits to those whole complete each day. To take advantage of this opportunity, you must register through the MHSAA for an additional $25 per day in addition to registration for the Summer Coaches’ School. You can register for CAP 7-8 online at MHSAA or register on-site the day of the event.
