Michigan State University College of Education alumnus Raymond (Ray) W. Cross, has been appointed the seventh president of the University of Wisconsin System.
Since 2011, Cross has served as chancellor of University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension, and his responsibilities included academic, development, administrative and financial aspects of both institutions. Cross was appointed by the UW System Board of Regents, and will step into the leadership role in mid-February.
Cross received a PhD in educational administration from MSU.
Formerly, he served as president of Morrisville State College, a residential agriculture and technology college of the State University of New York (SUNY). He was also president of Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, Minn., and was a department head and professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
