Excellence in Diversity Award
Description
The award is presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the value of diversity or multiculturalism within the University or outside the University community. Specific examples can include initiatives/programs that explore a range of themes such as diversity of cultures, religions, and abilities and are programs that have become a part of the University’s infrastructure and are sustainable.

Department of Kinesiology Awards
Outstanding Senior Award
Description
This award is given to a senior student in kinesiology whose academic and professional achievements are exemplary. Criteria: (a) kinesiology major; (b) current senior standing; and (c) minimum GPA of 3.50.
Nomination Procedures
Students who wish to be considered for the Outstanding Senior Award should submit the following materials to the Kinesiology Undergraduate Awards Application Form. The application deadline is February 15 of each year unless otherwise stated in the KINnections newsletter.
- One-page essay on qualifications for the award, including a statement of professional goals and achievements in kinesiology and related fields
- Resume including current address and phone number
- Record of courses completed
- One letter of support

Community Service Award
Description
This award is given to a junior or senior student in kinesiology whose academic achievement is strong and whose involvement in community service activities is exemplary. Criteria: (a) kinesiology major; (b) current junior or senior standing; and (c) minimum GPA of 3.00.

KIN Research Fellowship
Description
The KIN Research Fellowship recognizes outstanding research conducted and disseminated by a KIN undergraduate or graduate student. One or more awards of $750 are presented each year during the spring semester, with the number of award depending upon available funding. The fellowship is made available through an anonymous donation and supplementary funding from the Department of Kinesiology. The KIN Research Fellowship formerly was called the KIN Student Presentation Award. Changes in the title and criteria were adopted in Fall 2006.

Michigan Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MAHPERD) Honor Award
Description
The Michigan Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD) Honor Award is given to deserving students preparing for careers in health, physical education, recreation, dance and related professions. Students are to be active participants in their field of preparation and involved in service activities. Awards are presented at the MAHPERD convention the following November. The Honors Luncheon is free to Honor Award winners. Criteria: (a) kinesiology major; (b) current junior or senior standing – must have senior status next fall; (c) minimum GPA of 3.00; and (d) community service and active in field of preparation.
