20th Annual Brown Lecture In Education Research: The Untold Story of Brown and Black Educators’ Professional Superiority
Oct. 19, 6 to 7:45 p.m. Join us in Erickson 252 for a livestream viewing of Dr. Leslie T. Fenwick’s lecture, which revisits the history of the Brown v. Board of Education decision, introduces the concept of “cultural elision” in understanding its impact and highlights the consequences of massive resistance to integration. This resistance led to the dismissal of highly qualified Black educators, hindering desegregation efforts and impacting educational equity. DEI Conversations in Sport
Oct. 30, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Hosted by the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports (ISYS), the DEI Conversations in Sport conference focuses on addressing and preventing incidents of hate in sports by providing attendees with terminology, preventative strategies, and a crisis response plan for coaches and administrators. - Dr. Ashley Baker is the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at MSU Federal Credit Union. Formerly, she served as Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for MSU Athletics.
- Dr. Andrew MacIntosh is Chief Program Officer at RISE, where he helps to educate and empower the sports community into programs for varying audiences and contexts.
