April 1, 6 to 8 p.m.

International Students and Race: An Open Dialogue on Experiences and Insights
April 2, 12 to 1:30 p.m. Join for an insightful discussion shedding light on the intersection of race and international student experiences. This event aims to foster understanding, empathy and solidarity within our diverse community. We will have thought-provoking conversations on the complexities of identity, culture, racial dynamics and belonging. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, so please sign up to attend. Creating Effective Collaborative Learning Events
April 2, 12 to 1 p.m. In this session, participants will reflect on the use of collaborative learning during instruction in their classrooms. RECR Workshop: Rigor and Reproducibility in Research
April 2, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 
NIH and other funding agencies require comprehensive strategies for proper research methods and procedures, and the presentation of research data. This workshop will discuss means by which to address these within quantitative and qualitative research. Learn more via the Graduate School

Introduction to Gardening

Fatherhood Forum: Fathering in Challenging Times

CES Write-In
Apr. 5, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join fellow graduate students in writing about your engagement and outreach work. Participants are able to work on anything they would find helpful. The free event starts with creating writing goals for the day and ends with what was accomplished and upcoming steps. HYBRID EVENT: Register via CES Write In

Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
April 8, 3 to 4 p.m. 
Attend the Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at the MSU Library patio. Individuals will get to make bracelets with UV color changing beads and enjoy Sun Chips and Moon Pies, while supplies last. The first 50 people will get free eclipse glasses. Learn more via MSU Libraries

Call For Research Participants
Attention: International Doctoral Students
A College of Education research team is exploring the connection between international doctoral students’ prior careers and current academic experience. This team is seeking participants for a one-on-one semistructured interview and photovoice activity (estimated 70-minute time commitment). These sessions will help enhance support systems for international doctoral students navigating the transition from previous careers to academic settings. Deadline Extended: Summer 2024 TA Tuition Pool Call for Applicants
AttentionGraduate Teaching Assistants
The Graduate Employees Union and MSU agreed to add 500 additional tuition credits to the tuition waiver benefit for teaching assistants. This additional benefit will be in place for 2019-2023. The Summer tuition pool is available to students appointed as teaching assistants in Summer 2024. Apply by: April 5. Learn more and apply via the Graduate School

Immersive Visualization Institute (IVI) 2024
Apply for the opportunity to learn about digital display technology platforms available at MSU. Participants will assess the learning of display platforms, learn techniques to produce content, and develop and submit a final product. This experience will be gained through The Abrams Planetarium, 360 Degree Panoramic Display Space in the Library’s Digital Scholarship Lab and Science On a Sphere at the MSU Museum. Apply by: April 22. Learn more via MSU Museum

CED 932: Graduate Statistics, Part 1
Dr. Tenko Raykov will be teaching CEP 932 (Graduate Statistics, Part 1) this summer, session 1 (US24).  Once completed, you can continue with CEP 933 (Graduate Statistics, Part 2) in fall semester 2024, as 932 is a pre-requisite for 933. Contact Tenko Raykov (raykov@msu.edu) with questions.

As the ORA’s current grad assistant, Rachel prepares to complete her studies at MSU, Maria Rising has rejoined the ORA team. Certification in College Teaching
The University Graduate Certification in College Teaching (CCT)an initiative of the Graduate School in  partnership with MSU colleges, helps graduate students and postdocs organize, develop and document their teaching experiences. The College of Education will cover the $20 registration fee for any CED students who wish to participate (once you reach the payment screen, your registration is confirmed; you do not need to pay to register). Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop
Attention: Doctoral
This intensive professional development program provides advanced doctoral students and early career faculty with background literature, dialogue, mentoring, and workshops designed to increase their knowledge and enhance their practice of community-engaged scholarship. This year’s EESW will take place Oct. 7-8, 2024, immediately before the Engagement Scholarship Consortium conference in Portland, OR.
