Each week, we ask a member of the college grad student community to share 3 picks related to one of their passions. This week, Ruifen Tan, a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling student, shares 3 favorite MSU experiences.
- Exercise & Sports. I feel engaged in the exercise. Running is a way that I can get along with myself. I feel my mind get much clearer after running. I will run in the park or the gym. I am very appreciative that there are so many gyms and parks that I can run in Lansing and I also have a lot of fun playing sports with my friends. We have a group to play different kinds of sports every Tuesday.
- Nature. Nature can make me feel peaceful. In the summer, I sometimes go to the parks or gardens, such as Abbot Road Park, Fenner Nature Center and Beal Botanical Garden, to appreciate different flourishing plants and animals. I really love the beautiful flowers! And the squirrels and deer are so cute! It is so relaxing to engage in nature!
- Friends. I like to get to know new friends. As an international student, I didn’t have a friend here when I first arrived. I like to go to coffee hour every Friday to practice my English and get to know some new friends. I benefit a lot from this. I have learned how to listen and be sociable. Now I have a bunch of friends to do sports, play games and have parties together. It is so much fun!
