Are you planning to graduate this semester? Here is some essential information to help you navigate MSU’s celebrations of your achievements: 

MSU’s Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony (Doctoral, Educational Specialist and Master’s Degree Recipients) will be held on Friday, Dec.15, at 3:30 p.m. at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center (534 Birch Rd.):

  • Apply to graduate with the Registrar’s Office by Oct. 13 for the Fall 2023 semester. This will ensure your name is included in the printed commencement program. If you have FERPA restrictions on your account or apply after the deadline, your name will not print in the program.
  • Register to participate in the commencement ceremony by Dec. 1 at 12 p.m. Doctoral degree candidates ask one MSU faculty member to hood you.
  • Arrange for your cap, gown and graduation regalia through the Spartan Spirit Shop at MSU Union, 49 Abbot Road. Questions about academic apparel can be directed to spirit@msu.edu or 517-355-5116. 
  • Please contact the commencement office at commencement@msu.edu or 517-353-3993 by Nov. 6 with requests for accommodations for the ceremony.

In the Fall and Spring Semesters, there are two celebrations to recognize doctoral degree recipients from the College of Education: the MSU Commencement Ceremony (information above) and the College of Education’s Doctoral Hooding Ceremony (find more information via the Grad Link website).
