The Science of Team Science and Global Impact in Higher Education
April 3, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Higher education is faced with a new paradigm that not only prepares students to be experts in a chosen discipline but also requires them to be able to work in a new information and collaborative age, where skills and competencies that foster cross-disciplinary engagement and problem solving will be the foundation for global impact. RCR Credit: 1 hour. CREATE for STEM: Racism is Permanent: So What Next for STEM Education?
April 5, 12 to 1:15 p.m. Dr. Niral Shah from the University of Washington (formerly from MSU) will draw on Derrick Bell’s theory of racial realism to reflect on the possibilities and limits of anti-racist work in STEM education. Broad Underground Film Series: Uso Justo
April 5, 7 to 9 p.m. This program of short film and video includes filmmakers and artists of Mexican heritage who use, mobilize, and experiment with found footage to rearticulate a personal, informal, and just account of history. Registration required. Learn more via MSU Broad Museum

April 6, 12 to 1 p.m. Christie Morrison Thomas, Ph.D., is a recent graduate from MSU’s College of Education, where she worked with the NSF-funded Carbon
TIME research and development project. Morrison Thomas serves on the leadership team of the Michigan Science Professional Learning Network (MiSciPLN) and as the Michigan Education Association’s (MEA) liaison to the Michigan Science Teachers Association (MSTA) Board of Directors. HYBRID EVENT: Learn more via PDF

First Fridays: Neon Fashion Night

Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop

This nationally competitive, professional development program provides advanced doctoral students and postdocs with background literature, facilitated discussion, mentoring, and presentations designed to increase their knowledge and enhance their practice of community-engaged scholarship.
