March 27-31. 
Womxn of Color Initiatives announces their 2023 Artist-in-Residence: Colah B. Tawkin. Colah is the juggernaut creator, producer, and voice behind the renowned Black in the Garden podcast. She will lead multiple events between March 27-31. Learn more via the Graduate School

Bystander Intervention Training
March 28, 9 to 11 a.m. 
This workshop will discuss ways to challenge, interrupt, and prevent gender-based violence by being active bystanders. This workshop will explore what bystander intervention is, specific skills and behaviors to use, and opportunities to practice using scenarios. Learn more via the Graduate School

Broadening Participation in STEM Education and Careers: The Role of Inclusive Recruitment and Mentoring

Broad Underground Film Series: Carceral Infrastructures
March 29, 7 to 9 p.m. The Broad Underground Film Series presents experimental and avant-garde film and video screenings programmed in response to exhibitions at the MSU Broad Art Museum. In The Prison in Twelve Landscapes (2016), filmmaker Brett Story explores the problem of representing the systemic nature of prisons as institutions that are designed to be hidden. A Conversation with Paula Herbart: President of Michigan Education Association
March 31, 10:30 a.m. A K-12 music teacher in Macomb County’s Fraser Public Schools, Paula Herbart served in numerous leadership roles within her local, including local president. March 31, 11 a.m. MSU is hosting its 13th annual César Chávez & Dolores Huerta Commemorative Celebration, honoring the legacies of local and national community leaders and organizers with a special lunch on campus. This event recognizes the brave champions that secured change for farmworkers and Latinx communities. Learn more via the Graduate School

Collaboration Summit
April 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
Invest in your collaboration skills while learning from colleagues across campus at this half-day summit. Participants will gain awareness of best practices from the collaboration literature and from collected experience and begin applying these insights to their own work. AI Sonic Art Workshop
April 2, 1 to 3 p.m. The MSU Museum CoLab Studio invites you to join us as we explore text-to-sound generative AI, learning how to use the algorithms and grappling with the future implications of this technology. This hands-on workshop will be led by Mark Sullivan, a practicing photographer, composer, and the creative director of the Museum CoLab Studio.  MSU Library 2nd Floor, Digital Scholarship Lab. Graduate Program Director: Packaging
The School of Packaging in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Program Director at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank. The Graduate Program Director (GPD) serves as the administrative supervisor and coordinator of graduate studies within the School of Packaging, overseeing all components of graduate education and promoting academic quality and integrity. How to Complete Your Grad Student Tax Return

This Personal Finance for PhDs workshop is provided to you for free by the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) and the Graduate School office at Michigan State University. College of Education Student Food Pantry
A small food pantry with grab-and-go food items is now located in Erickson Hall and is open to all CED students who may be in need. (When entering the main entrance of Erickson Hall, walk past the Student Affairs Office and turn left down the hallway as you approach 133F. The cupboard is located shortly down the hallway on your left.) This initiative is made possible by MSU donors who have contributed to the Student Emergency Fund. Weill Institute Emerging Scholars Symposium
Attention: Doctoral
The Weill Institute Emerging Scholars Symposium in Ithaca, NY, is a one-day event in October where exceptional senior Ph.D. students from institutions external to Cornell are invited to share their research with the Weill Institute community, celebrate their academic achievements, interact with students and faculty, and explore post-doctoral collaboration and research opportunities. Graduate Teaching Assistant Preparation: Save The Date

The 2023-24 GTA Preparation Program (Aug. 15, 16, 23) has workshops and sessions for graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) in any role (new and returning). Grad students who will be teaching either in the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters should mark their calendars for all or any of the three days. Registration begins April 15.
