Reminder: External grants & fellowships
Did you know that proposals for external funding (i.e., outside MSU) may need to be reviewed by MSU before you submit it? Reach out to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) as early as possible to check whether this applies to a proposal you’re working on, and we’ll support you throughout this process. The ORA can help you find grants/fellowships, prepare your proposal and budget, navigate MSU’s required internal review, and more. Support for Doctoral Students Who Are Full-Time Employees
Attention: Doctoral
This funding program is for doctoral students who are employed full-time. Eligible students can apply for awards up to $1,500 per round of grant funding for expenses. Applications due: Nov. 11. View requirements and application details via PDF

COGS Disciplinary Leadership Award
This MSU Council of Graduate Students (COGS) endowment recognizes disciplinary leadership by graduate and grad-professional students. Consideration will be given to students who have clearly demonstrated leadership in their respective disciplines and/or professional societies at the local, state, regional, national, or international levels while a student at MSU. Funding amount: $1,000. Applications due: Nov. 14. Learn more via the Graduate School

COGS Diversity Equity and Inclusion Award
This endowment recognizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts by graduate and professional students in or through their program, unit or department at MSU. The recipients are selected during Spring Semester 2023 to be awarded the following Fall Semester 2023. Recipients need to be enrolled for the Fall 2023 semester. Funding amount $1,000. Barbara Stewart Thomas and Jim Thomas Graduate Fellowship
This fellowship is open to graduate students, with preference given to non-traditional graduate students. Recipients should demonstrate their commitment to fighting society’s “isms” – including sexism, racism and ageism – and their motivation to seek opportunities to further their own intellectual progress and social justice. Student must be enrolled for Spring Semester 2023. Spending Amount: $1,400. Apply by: Nov. 15. Learn more via the Graduate School

The Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships
Attention:Doctoral
Newcombe Fellows are late-stage Ph.D. students studying how ethical and religious values shape society, including political decisions, public life, culture, history, literature and other areas. Award: $30,000. Apply by: Nov. 15. Learn more via the Graduate School

Carol and Michael LeMense Family Endowed Graduate Fellowship
Applicants will have graduated from a U.S. public high school and demonstrated academic excellence in their undergraduate studies. Applicants may be pursuing a graduate degree in the following disciplines: Education, Healthcare, or Engineering. One 2022-23 award available: $2,700. Apply by: Nov. 15.
