Through a liberatory praxis grounded in theoretical frames of resistance, we can transform higher education institutions. In this interactive conversation, Dr. Kijua Sanders-McMurtry invites attendees to explore a discursive analysis of resistance in the work of diversity, equity and inclusion within higher education. Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda at Erickson Hall
Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a celebration of life and death. Join student group Rueda Latina and the College of Education DEI Office in celebrating and honoring the lives of those who have passed by contributing to our ofrenda (altar), on display on the first-floor wall in Erickson Hall across from Room 133F until Nov. 3. If you are interested in contributing to the ofrenda (pictures of a departed loved one, quotes, names of departed loved ones, etc.), email Amber Denney (denneya1@msu.edu).
Community-Engaged Scholarship Write-In
Nov. 4, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Are you working on an outreach or engagement journal article, grant proposal, book chapter, thesis, dissertation, curriculum, or portfolio? Would some quiet space and time away from your office help? Join this event for three hours of dedicated writing time to advance your community-engaged scholarship. Write-ins start with goal-setting for the day and wrap up with a progress report, next steps, and a meal ticket for lunch at Brody cafeteria. Register by Nov. 3. The Deborah L. Feltz Lecture on Sport, Exercise, and Human Movement Science in Africa
Nov. 4, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Professor Vincent O. Onywera is a faculty member in the Department of Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science at Kenyatta University, Kenya. His lecture will focus on emerging physical activity transition threat in Africa, identify research gaps and opportunities to address these gaps as well as strategies for promoting physical activity and linking it to health, wellbeing, and sustainable development in Africa. Every April, the MSU Science Festival welcomes learners of all ages to experience the wonders of science through programs that highlight ground-breaking scholarship and research. The festival is currently accepting program proposals for the 2023 Festival. MSU graduate students are eligible to present. The festival meets NSF requirements for broader impacts. Graduate Student All Recovery Meeting: A Peer Recovery Meeting
This program is a new resource developed by MSU’s Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) for graduate students navigating recovery from addiction.
