Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda at Erickson Hall
Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a celebration of life and death. Join student group Rueda Latina and the College of Education DEI Office in celebrating and honoring the lives of those who have passed by contributing to our ofrenda (altar), on display on the first-floor wall in Erickson Hall across from Room 133F until Nov. 3. If you are interested in contributing to the ofrenda (pictures of a departed loved one, quotes, names of departed loved ones, etc.), email Amber Denney (denneya1@msu.edu).

GTA Lunch & Learn: Writing Your Teaching Philosophy Statement
Attention: Graduate Teaching Assistants
Oct. 26, 12 to 1:30 p.m. A teaching philosophy statement demonstrates your teaching beliefs, values, use of evidence-based teaching and assessment practices for effective instruction. Learn about recognizing your teaching values and collecting evidence of effective teaching. At the end of this session, you will have a working draft of your teaching statement, which will empower you to continue your efforts toward intentional and effective teaching. VIRTUAL EVENT: Learn more via The Graduate School

Mastering the Online Interview
Oct. 26, 4 to 4:30 p.m. 
This workshop will focus on simple tips to ace your online interview. This workshop is suitable for graduate students applying for jobs and/or those interested in improving their interview skills. Registration required. VIRTUAL EVENT: Learn more via The Graduate School

Graduate School Write-In
Oct. 28, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

MSU IT AT&T Awards
Attention: Teaching Assistants
Applications are now open for the AT&T Excellence in Teaching with Technology Awards, which recognize effective uses of instructional technology to support student success in credit-bearing courses at MSU. Faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants can submit applications until Oct. 28. Learn more via the Graduate School

College of Education: Student Employment Opportunities
The Office of Academic & Student Affairs is hiring two graduate student positions to support MSU’s Educator Preparation Program (EPP). These positions are open to master’s and doctoral students, part-time, and can be conducted remotely. This work is particularly relevant to educators and school leaders. Applications due: Oct. 26.

  • MSU Educator Preparation Program Consultant, 10 hours/week, hourly rate based on experience OR ¼ time GA appointment.   • MSU Educator Preparation Program Project Manager, 20 hours/week, hourly rate based on experience OR ½ time GA appointment. Develop and document big picture of EPP activity, serve as manager for various EPP projects, ensuring progress and timely completion. CITRL Fall Programming Opportunities
The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning is holding multiple events in October that will benefit graduate students, including a workshop on how machine learning can enhance undergraduate research and a panel discussing teaching at community colleges. Open Call: Knowing Nature Gaming Residency
The MSU Museum CoLab Studio, a division for innovation and experimentation, is seeking a team of undergraduate and graduate students to experiment with gaming in MSU Museum exhibitions. Students will focus on designing a game to be part of the Smithsonian SITES exhibition “Knowing Nature: Stories of the Boreal Forest.” Learn more via the Graduate School
