Introduction to Compassionate Communication

March 23, 6 to 7 p.m. Leaders need to know how to navigate complex situations with integrity and empathy. Participants will explore Compassionate Communication, an approach created by psychologist and mediator Marshall Rosenberg 50 years ago and used in more than 60 countries. You will learn principles and skills for communicating in ways that foster understanding and connection. Learn more

LUNAFest

March 23, 7 p.m. LUNAFest is a program of short films that empower and inspire. This year’s stories are told from a variety of perspectives that champion women and gender nonconforming individuals, highlighting their aspirations, accomplishments, resilience, strength, and connection. A Way Forward in Practice: The Myth and Misconceptions about Teaching Race and Racism

March 24, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Join Vice President Jabbar R. Education Policy Speaker Series: A Conversation with Dr. Sarah Winchell Lenhoff

March 24, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sarah Winchell Lenhoff, Ph.D., is the Leonard Kaplan Endowed Professor and Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Wayne State University. She is also the director of the Detroit Education Research Partnership, a research practice partnership with the Detroit Public Schools Community District and a coalition of Detroit community-based organizations focused on understanding and addressing problems related to chronic absenteeism, enrollment, discipline, and early literacy. 133F Erickson Hall or via Zoom

Certification in College Teaching Scaffolding Session

March 24, 4 to 5:30 p.m. If you have attended any of The Graduate School’s Certification in College Teaching Institutes in the last few years, please join a scaffolding session to help you complete your Certification in College Teaching. In this session, we will help clarify requirements, answer questions regarding the completion process, your teaching philosophy, your mentored teaching project and associated assessment methods, as well as your e-Portfolio completion. Learn more
