Commencement Information

MASTER’S, DOCTORAL AND EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST DEGREES

Michigan State University is hosting a number of ceremonies to celebrate Spring Semester 2023 graduates!

MSU’s Master’s and Educational Specialist Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 5, at 9 a.m. at the Breslin Student Events Center. Graduates are asked to arrive to the Breslin Center by 8 a.m.

The Doctoral (PHD and EDD) Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Breslin Student Events Center. Graduates are asked to arrive to the Breslin Center by 2:30 p.m.

These ceremonies will last approximately two hours. Admission tickets are not required. Please refer to the Commencement website for additional details and updated information.

Doctoral Convocation

At the end of each semester, the MSU College of Education also hosts a Doctoral Convocation (hooding ceremony) for candidates who have completed their programs of study. The ceremony, in addition to university Commencement activities, serves as a special recognition for those obtaining their doctoral degree(s) from the College of Education.

The College of Education is hosting an in-person Doctoral Convocation (Hooding Ceremony) in the Erickson Hall Kiva on Friday, May 5, at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate our graduates. Graduates and hooding faculty are asked to arrive to the staging area close to Room 140 in Erickson Hall by 11:10 a.m.


BACHELOR’S DEGREES

Michigan State University will host a ceremony for baccalaureate graduates on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Breslin Student Events Center. Graduates are asked to arrive by 6 p.m.

The ceremony will last approximately two hours. Admission tickets are not required. Please refer to the Commencement website for additional details and updated information.
