Master of Arts in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education

Application Deadline for Fall 2017: December 15, 2016

The HALE master’s program, which is available on campus or completely online, is for individuals who are working in or wish to move into roles in higher and adult education, including administration, continuing professional development, or teaching. The program develops understanding of central issues in postsecondary teaching and learning, and a theoretical understanding of administration and leadership connected to practice.

Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration

Application Deadline for Fall 2017: December 15, 2016

The master’s degree program in student affairs administration provides a broad perspective on higher education systems, an understanding of central issues in student affairs administration and a connection of theory to practice. Graduates are prepared to work in and cultivate educational environments that promote diversity and multiculturalism.

Doctorate in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education

Application Deadline for Fall 2017: December 1, 2016

HALE programs at MSU prepare individuals for leadership positions in postsecondary educational organizations, including community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and public agencies. The doctoral program enables students to examine changing perspectives on postsecondary educational organizations, changing notions of postsecondary teaching and learning, and the changing roles of students, teachers, researchers and administrators.

Master of Arts in K-12 Educational Administration

The master’s program in K-12 Educational Administration prepares aspiring educators for leadership positions in public, charter and private school settings. The program is committed to developing school-level leadership for powerful and equitable teaching and learning, and to ensuring students meet state standards for leadership preparation.

Ed. D. in K-12 Educational Administration

Application Deadline for Fall 2017: February 15, 2017

The Ed.D. degree is designed for educators and other practitioners who have aspirations for improving their own leadership practice, for developing leadership capacity within their organizations and communities, and for making significant contributions to their local communities and to the future of Michigan. Students in the program will find their advanced leadership studies connected to critical education and social issues facing the state.

Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Administration

Application Deadline for Fall 2017: December 1, 2016

The Ph.D. degree is designed to develop academic researchers or others interested in concentrated study in leadership, reform of educational organizations and systems, educational governance, finance and policy analysis, comparative education and related fields. The program emphasizes policy, theoretical and conceptual analysis, and empirical research.
