Ryan Adams
Asst Director of Development

Ryan Adams is serving as assistant director of development. He received his master's degree from the Department of Kinesiology and is now completing his PhD in the Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education (HALE) program. Ryan has experience cultivating relationships with donors and corporate sponsors as a former graduate assistant for the university's Athletics Department. He spent the past five years working in the Office of Regulatory Affairs, Human Research Protection Program, which involved reviewing and providing feedback on human research projects conducted across campus. He also has a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University.

Julie has been with the College of Education since November of 2004. She served in the role of Assistant Director of Development prior to her current role as Associate Director of Development. Before she joined the college, Julie worked as an intern and development associate in the Marketing and Annual Giving programs for MSU University Advancement. Julie grew up in Davison, Michigan and received her bachelor's degree in communications from Michigan State University and her master's in higher, adult, and lifelong education also from Michigan State University

Colleen is serving as Associate Director of Development. Colleen has over ten years of experience in higher education. She began her career with Hobart and William Smith College where she spent almost five years writing proposals, high level presentations while also working to increase membership levels, participation and dollars raised. Later, as an Associate Director of Development at the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, Colleen served as the liaison with the Leventhal School of Accounting working directly with the Dean to assist with all aspects of fundraising including board management, planning and implementing donor cultivation events and all stewardship and solicitation efforts. Colleen also has experience as a campaign manager from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with knowledge spanning from drafting and executing a comprehensive campaign plan to organizing and managing fundraising activities.

Melissa Phillips
Senior Director of Development

Melissa Phillips is the Senior Director of Development and is focused on major gift fundraising. In this key leadership position, Phillips works closely with Dean Donald Heller and fellow development officers to reach philanthropic goals established by the college. Phillips is a 1997 graduate of MSU¹s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. With an extensive background in higher education fundraising, Phillips most recently served as senior director of development at the Iowa State University Foundation¹s College of Business.
