The theme of this years Summer Coaches' School focuses on working with this generation of athletes. Many coaches and sport leaders often talk about the challenges of working with today's athletes. Our expert presenters will share strategies for working effectively in today's world as a sport coach. Presentation topics will address many of the challenges' coaches face when coaching in today's world such a athlete mental health, creating inclusive environments, and working with parents. Addtional topics will focus on coaching strategies for individualizing coaching, appropriate practices in strength and conditioning training, implementing a mental skills program, and stratigies for maximizing your potential as a coach. Presentations will include a mix of engagment lectures, workshop activities, and group discussion.
Located at Brody Center on MSU's Campus
The coaches' school will be held at the Brody Center, easily accessible from the Kellog Center parking ramp on MSU's campus. Lunch will be included both days. The school is hosted and organized by the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports, in conjunction with the MSU Deparment of Kinesiology and its Sport Coaching and Leadership graduate programs.
MHSAA Coach Advancement Program
The 2019 Summer Coaches’ School serves as levels 7-8 of the MHSAA Coach Advancement Program and provides SCHECH credits to those whole complete each day. To take advantage of this opportunity, you must register through the MHSAA for an additional $25 per day in addition to registration for the Summer Coaches’ School. You can register for CAP 7-8 online at MHSAA or register on-site the day of the event.
