When I arrived for Spartan Preview Days (SPD), it was a greatexperience in that I was accepted into an amazing program filled with greatpeople. However, the first few days of SPD were tough on me since mygrandfather’s funeral/viewing was taking place during SPD. There was a highdegree of guilt on me for missing his funeral… However, I knew in my heart, that he would have wanted me to attend SPD and realize my dreams. My family wassupportive of my decision, which motivated me to attend. Additionally, facultyand graduate assistantship personnel were understanding and accommodating of mydecision to go through with SPD. However, had I not informed faculty/staff ofmy disheartening loss, I would not have been able to have an experience thatwas accommodating. I recall Kyle Carter informing me that I could miss certainitems for SPD granted the circumstances surrounding me at that time.Additionally, interviewers were kind and sympathetic about my loss at the time, which made it feel even more inviting. As I graduate from this program, I’llnever forget all that it has offered me and the opportunities it has given me,along with the support it gave me during my difficult moments. One lesson Ihope we all take is the importance of acknowledging our hardships and also, howwe have overcome them. I’m proud of each and every one of you as we nearclosing off our endeavors at MSU.

Thank you MSU-SAA!
