Dr. Kui Xie and his team presented at the Innovate: Create 2014 conference. His presentation overviewed the theoretical frameworks and practical considerations underlying the design of an online learning module that aimed to promote students’ motivation, engagement, and learning in online environments. Presenters described the rationale behind students’ participation in authentic learning and collaborative learning activities in the module. They demonstrated how the development of instructional materials and course activities were guided by theoretical and empirical research on motivation and learning.
