Teaching Position: CEP 801A Professional Role in Teaching Special Education I:Collaboration and Consultation

Semesters Offered: Spring

Duties: This course is a required for Special Education Interns. Special education teachers and administrators perform their duties across many collaborative spaces, including consultation with general education teachers, as members of pre-referral teams, multidisciplinary evaluation teams, co-teaching teams, building wide positive behavioral support teams, and working with parents.  The instructor is responsible for helping prepare for weekly lessons, co-teaching lessons, and helping in student evaluation.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Special Education teaching endorsement
  2. Familiarity with special education history, policy, and law

Orientation and Training: Graduate student instructors are required to attend orientation prior to the start of fall semester. Weekly or bi-weekly meetings for professional development are required.

Mentoring, Monitoring, and Evaluation:  Classroom observation of teaching by Supervision Faculty; debriefing conference after observation; Weekly planning meetings with course instructor.
