Administrative Assistant I- Teacher Education

TheĀ Department of Teacher EducationĀ atĀ Michigan State UniversityĀ announces an opening for a Administrative Assistant I. This position willl assist the Chairperson for the DepartmentĀ of Teacher Education with departmental administrative and operational responsibilites.

Duties:

Include but are not limited to the following: course scheduling to include room assignments for courses and sections and final exam scheduling; compiling and analyzing information in order to produce and assist with departmental reports including enrollment, faculty assignments, evaluations and committees; assisting and acting as a resource for faculty and staff within the department in the use of technology in teaching and development and delivery of courses; maintaining graduate assistantship application database, faculty professional accomplishments, annual review, faculty/grad/fixed-term loads, promotion/tenure, evaluation, and committees; investigating existing and emerging educational delivery technologies; developing, maintaining, and analyzing departmental databases; interpreting and explaining policies and procedures in order to answer questions and resolve problems; interacting with and working effectively with a wide range of individuals including faculty, staff, and students; other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the Department of Teacher Education, the College of Education, and Michigan State University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational, or business school in Education, Business, or a related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software; experience with survey software systems including creating and developing online surveys; experience with developing reports and providing data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualification:

Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; experience with the following systems: Desire 2 Learn, CLIFMS, Qualtrics, EBS, SAP HR-Payroll System, Kuali Financial System, Business Intelligence, and Student Information System; experience with Adobe Acrobat and Web page auditing software; experience working in Higher Education; strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of University policies and procedures; familiarity with work activity in an academic unit; experience with both Microsoft and MAC operating systems; displays strong attention to detail with aptitude for producing accurate information; demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, taking initiative, working as part of a team, and learning for continuous self-improvement.
