Nominate your favorite teacher for the Sixth Annual College of Education Excellence and Innovation in Teaching Award 2009-2010. The Excellence and Innovation in Teaching Awards in the College of Education at Mich. St. Univ. are given annually to up to four faculty ($2000) and up to four doctoral students ($1000) who have demonstrated that their teaching and advising practices are thoughtful and effective. Faculty and students can self-nominate or can be nominated by colleagues. Nominees must be faculty or doctoral students whose home departments are in the College of Educ., and they cannot have left the University. Nominees must have taught in the University for at least four semesters (these do not have to be consecutive). Final materials will be due 19 March 2010. Please let Suzanne Wilson (swilson@msu.edu) know if you are intending to submit your materials. The award is meant to capture and disseminate successful teaching practices. Evaluation Criteria: 1. A strong commitment to students and to teaching and learning; 2. Excellence in teaching; 3. Innovations in teaching and learning; 4. A strong commitment to working effectively with a diverse student body; 5. A demonstrable impact on students’ intellectual development, learning, and/or practice;and 6. Teaching practice grounded in theory/theories of how students learn.
