Joyce Scholarship available for teacher education students

The Canadian Studies Center at Michigan State University is taking applications for the Joyce Scholarship Essay Contest, which will provide $1,000 scholarships to five College of Education students preparing for K-12 teaching careers. The deadline for submission is 3 p.m. Oct. 4, 2010.

Applicants must complete an application form and submit a paper of at least 2,000 words that describes how their topic or area of study ties into teaching about Canada.  The essay should be entitled “Teaching Canada: (fill in the blank).”

The Joyce Scholarship is named after William W. Joyce, a professor emeritus of teacher education at MSU. Dr. Joyce was on the faculty for more than 40 years.
