Eric L. Sturdy Jr. joined the Michigan State University College of Education as senior director of development in the fall of 2020. Eric brings over 20 years of experience serving not-for-profit organizations, health care and higher education.

Most recently, he was director of development for the MSU College of Nursing, where he played a central role in growing the college’s Development and Alumni Relations program and achieving success in the university’s Empower Extraordinary campaign. Working collaboratively over seven years, Sturdy documented nearly $15.6M in gifts and pledges, including the college’s first funded endowed chair.
Previously, Sturdy was executive director of the McLaren Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation where his efforts significantly increased revenue and pledges and helped the organization enhance its impact in the community. He also has worked for Northwood University and several United Way agencies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and a certificate in Fundraising Management from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University Purdue University.
