JTE AACTE Deeper Dive: “Responding to the teacher ‘shortage’: Perspectives from research, policy, and practice

This post features five clips from the “Deeper Dive” Research Forum sponsored by the Journal of Teacher Education at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) 2018 annual conference. This forum, entitled “Responding to the teacher ‘shortage’: Perspectives from research, policy, and practice,” featured the following guests: Desiree Carver-Thomas, Learning Policy Institute; Cassandra Herring, Founder & CEO, Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity; Richard Ingersoll, University of Pennsylvania; and Saroja Warner, Council of Chief State School Officers. The forum speakers discussed the data surrounding teacher shortages, the impact of teacher burnout, the effects of teacher turnover on the academic achievement of students, barriers to recruitment and retention of teachers of Color, and much more.
