Youth sport is a valuable context for youth development, but the actual mechanisms of how children benefit from their sport experiences are a viable topic for research and scholarly debate.  On March 26-28, three scholars from MSU (Karl Erickson, Andy Driska, Scott Pierce) traveled to Ottawa, Ontario to meet with colleagues at the University of Ottawa who share similar research interests.  The meeting, in conjunction with the Eastern Canada Sport and Exercise Symposium (ECSEPS), was an opportunity to share ideas related to positive youth development through sport, the transfer of life skills from sport contexts to life contexts, and the best practices for educating and developing youth sport coaches.
