Frequently Asked Questions

You must first apply to Michigan State University through MSU’s on-line application for undergraduate admission and indicate your intention to earn a teaching certificate.  Students interested in becoming elementary teachers should select Education or Special Education (Learning Disabilities) as their major. Students interested in becoming secondary teachers should select the major corresponding to the subject they wish to teach (e.g., Mathematics, French, Biology, Music Education, etc.), and indicate their intention to earn a teaching certificate (check the box).  The Office of Admissions reviews applications to determine each applicant’s eligibility for Direct Transfer Admission to the teacher preparation program.  If you are eligible, you will receive a Supplemental Application for the College of Education from the MSU Office of Admissions. The Supplemental Application will provide additional information about how to access the on-line application.  Official transcripts must be sent to the MSU Office of Admissions and Scholarships, Room 250 Hannah Administration Building, East Lansing, MI 48824.
