Urban Immersion Fellowship

Tentative Program Dates

You are invited to participate in a program created by Michigan State University's College of Education designed to develop highly effective urban educators and leaders.

Program Specifics:

This is an excellent paid fellowship opportunity, offered on a competitive basis, which includes:
  • Seven-week summer fellowship opportunity in the city of Detroit, Michigan
  • Work with Detroit Schools Summer School Programming or Detroit-based non-profit community entity serving children, youth, and families
  • In-depth exposure to the city of Detroit and community resources
  • Total stipend payment of $3,500 for fellowship completion
  • Lodging, board, and transportation costs incurred by individual fellow (housing options can be provided)

Criteria for Application:

  • Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Teacher Preparation program
  • Writing sample describing commitment to urban education
  • Recommendation from MSU education faculty
  • Online application will be available Monday, January 29, 2018
