OUTREACH AND OPERATIONS DIRECTOR (ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III)- COUNSELING, EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY & SPECIAL EDUCATION

 

Duties:

Representing the Michigan State University Early Learning Institute (ELI), this position will be responsible for providing management and oversight of medical billing, reporting and compliance, and community outreach and communications. Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing and managing the medical billing function for the Institute; managing billing reporting and identifying billing queries and problems; developing action plans to ensure timely and appropriate reconciliation of issues; overseeing and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations of the University, State, Federal, affiliated and external agencies; identifying areas where the Institute can effectively partner to maximize resources and have a greater positive impact on the community; building Institute name recognition and creating opportunities through educational presentations and participation in community events; overseeing program and family communications to ensure families have all critical information; managing and leading family information meetings on a monthly basis; managing the support function provided to families during the transition process from ELI to their subsequent school or treatment setting; interacting with schools to support the transition process for ELI children to school settings; and other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the Early Learning Institute and Michigan State University.

 

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, education or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in medical billing management, business reporting and analysis, and business outreach management; experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; experience with medical billing terminology and claims processing procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in a related field; experience working with Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), Medicare, and/or third party payers; knowledge of state and federal regulations, laws, and guidelines; experience with Michigan State University (MSU) Enterprise Business Systems (SAP, Kuali Finance, Business Intelligence); experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to work effectively on multiple tasks with changing priorities; displays strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications; experience with project and office management; displays a great attention to detail; demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, seeing the bigger picture, forecasting potential trouble spots, taking initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a dedication to continuous self-improvement.
