Representing the Michigan State University Early Learning Institute, this position will be responsible for providing daily business operations oversight for the program. Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: management and oversight of the annual operating budget of ~$2 million; preparing and reconciling accounting ledgers; management and oversight of Institute purchasing and ordering; oversight of personnel processes to include: position searches, monitoring training certification requirements, employee annual reviews, and payroll; oversees the Institute enrollment processes; assists with monitoring, creating, and revising business operations policies and procedures; manages facility and space operations for the Institute; serves as a communication liaison with internal and external constituents related to Institute operations; assists with Institute event operations; and other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the Early Learning Institute and Michigan State University.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in budget preparation, oversight, and management; experience with business reporting and analysis; experience with human resources procedures; experience with business operations management; experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in a related field; experience with event planning and management; experience in higher education and/or non-profit organizations; experience with Michigan State University (MSU) Enterprise Business Systems (SAP, Kuali Finance, Business Intelligence); experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to work effectively on multiple tasks with changing priorities; displays strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications; experience with project and office management; displays a great attention to detail; demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, seeing the bigger picture, forecasting potential trouble spots, taking initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a dedication to continuous self-improvement.
