Connect to a shared drive

On campus or connecting with the VPN from off campus:

In Finder on your Mac click the "Go" menu and select "Connect to Server...".

Enter the server you want to connect to.

All College of Education servers will start with smb://

On the Mac all slashes are forward "/" unless it is after the domain "campusad\YOURUSERNAME"

If you add "campusad\YOURUSERNAME@" before the server but after the smb:// it will save your user name for you.

Hit the plus button to save as a favorite for connect to later.

Examples:

Connect to the COE "S" or share drive:

Server address and adding to favorites

So if your id is "sparty" your connection string would look like:

smb://campusad\sparty@educ-srvfpspro.campusad.msu.edu/EDUC-Share$/

Connect to the COE "H" or home drive:

So if your id is "sparty" your connection string would look like:

smb://campusad\sparty@educ-srvfpspro.campusad.msu.edu/sparty$/

Note: The home drive is limited to 10GB and should not have office data.

At the bottom click "Connect".

You will be prompted for your password.

Click "Connect".

You will now see the "S" or shared drive mounted on your desktop:

And/or the "H" or home drive mounted on your desktop:

If you do not see the mounted drive on your desktop open Finder and select the "Finder" menu and "Preferences..." and select "Connected servers" under the "Show these items on the desktop".
